🚨 Safety Warning: Jet Blast Hazard!
Xanemos is located directly behind the airport engine blast zone. When large aircraft are lining up for takeoff, the jet blast can be extremely powerful, sending pebbles and sand flying at dangerous speeds. Always stand clear of the direct center line of the runway fence during takeoffs, hold onto your belongings, and never underestimate the force of the engines!

Planning your day at Xanemos requires checking the weather and being prepared for its specific landscape.
- Strong Winds & Waves: Xanemos faces north-northeast. When the northern Meltemi winds blow, the beach gets heavy waves and strong undercurrents. It is best visited on days when the wind is blowing from the south.
- Deep Waters: The sea floor drops sharply at Xanemos. It is not an ideal beach for families with toddlers or inexperienced swimmers who want shallow waters.
- Sun Protection: While sunbeds are available for rent, they can fill up on busy plane-spotting days. There is very little natural shade, so a hat and good sunscreen are mandatory.
How to Get There
Xanemos is incredibly easy to access compared to land-locked beaches. It is located roughly 3.5 km from Skiathos Town. You can drive here directly via an asphalt road by car, scooter, or ATV, and there is an open parking area right next to the beach. Alternatively, it is a flat, scenic 40-minute walk from the port alongside the airport boundary.

If you want the best photos without the crowds, check the airport arrivals board online in the morning. Group your visit around the peak arrival windows (usually mid-day on Tuesdays, Fridays, and weekends). If the northern wind is too strong for swimming, sit back at the canteen, enjoy a cold drink, and just focus on the incredible aviation spectacle!
