Everything You Need to Know

Tsougria is a breathtaking, uninhabited island located just a few knots off the coast of Skiathos Town. Often described as the "Caribbean of the Sporades," this tiny paradise is cloaked in lush pine trees and bordered by stretches of incredibly soft, powdery gold sand. The water here is shallow, warm, and hyper-transparent, making it an absolute favorite for families, snorkelers, and yachts. It provides a serene, castaway vibe while still offering a touch of summer comfort.

🌿 Protected Eco-Island Status

Tsougria is a pristine natural refuge with no permanent residents, municipal electricity, or grid water supply. Everything on the island operates under strict ecological mindfulness. Visitors are requested to respect the local fauna, avoid entering the dense pine forest zones with open flames, and ensure that absolutely no litter is left behind when leaving the island.

Where to Eat & Drink

Even on an uninhabited island, you won't go hungry or thirsty during the day:

The Tsougria Beach Bar & Restaurant

Operating completely off-grid via eco-friendly generators and solar setups, this stylized beach hub serves fantastic iced coffees, fresh fruit cocktails, fresh fish, and classic Greek snacks. They offer a highly relaxed tropical atmosphere and manage the sunbed rentals spread across the main beach stretch.

Activities & Wonders

Tsougria is perfect for a full-day excursion, combining relaxation with light exploration:

Agios Floros Church Hike

A short, scenic trail leads up the rocky hillside to the tiny chapel of Agios Floros. Perched dramatically over the cliffside, this picturesque orthodox chapel offers a jaw-dropping panoramic view of Skiathos and the open Aegean Sea.

Sailing & Snorkeling

The protected, calm bays around Tsougria are top-tier spots for underwater exploration. The crystal-clear shallow flats hold excellent visibility, making it very safe to swim far out and spot local marine life.

Important Tips for Visitors

Keep these useful insider facts in mind before catching your boat to the island:

How to Get There

Tsougria is accessible **only by sea**. Regular excursion boats and small taxi-boats leave continuously every morning (starting around 10:00 AM) from the Old Port of Skiathos Town. Additional water taxis also run directly from Achladias Beach. The boat ride takes roughly 15 minutes, and return tickets are very affordable.

💡 Insider Tip from Locals

Tsougria is the best beach alternative when strong northern winds (Meltemi) blow on Skiathos. Because the main beach faces southwest, it is perfectly shielded by the island's terrain, ensuring calm, flat, and wave-free waters even when northern beaches like Lalaria or Xanemos are completely unswimmable!

Emergency Info: Although it's an uninhabited island, cell service is strong because it faces Skiathos Town directly. The beach bar staff has first aid equipment and immediate boat contact with local port authorities. In emergencies, call 112.
