Agistros Beach is located on the wild western side of Skiathos, sitting right next to Elia Beach. It features sparkling turquoise waters, a golden-sandy shore, and dramatic rock formations spread across the bay. Framed by lush, green pine hills, it feels like a hidden paradise. Since it remains relatively undiscovered by the mass crowds, it offers the ultimate peaceful getaway for travellers looking for an authentic beach day.
In harmony with its untamed nature, you won't find major commercial spots here. However, there is one excellent, rustic option right on the sand:
A lovely wooden beach shack and tavern perched directly over the sand. It serves ice-cold coffees, refreshing drinks, and surprisingly delicious local Greek food and snacks. Perfect for enjoying a traditional light meal right from your sunbed while listening to the cicadas in the pines.
VIEW DETAILS →To preserve the peaceful ambience and prevent environmental pollution, motorized water sports are completely absent from Agistros. Instead, the focus is entirely on eco-friendly marine exploration:
The exceptional clarity of the water and the rich sea-beds around the rocky formations make Agistros an elite snorkeling destination in Skiathos. Colorful schools of fish are highly visible near the shore.
Bring Snorkel GearThe hike itself through the Mandraki pine forest to reach Agistros is an incredible adventure. Walking the shaded tracks surrounded by local herbs and flora is a highly recommended nature experience.
Wear Good ShoesDespite its untamed character, Agistros offers the basic comforts you need without sacrificing its wilderness appeal. It is the perfect blend of raw nature and subtle hospitality.
Take the main island bus to Stop 23. From there, follow the scenic, roughly 2km dirt track that winds directly through the beautiful Mandraki pine forest down to the coast. If you prefer to skip the walk, you can easily arrive by hiring a taxi-boat or water taxi departing directly from the main port in Skiathos Town.
Because of its isolated, off-grid location inside the forest, the Agistros Canteen often suffers from poor cellular network connections, meaning card terminals might not work. Always bring cash money to ensure you can buy snacks, drinks, or secure your sunbeds without hassle!
Emergency Info: Emergency vehicle access is via the forest road from Bus Stop 23. Dial 112 for any urgent security or medical assistance.
